Hair loss in women and men is very worrying and stressful for those who experience it. Statistically 30 million women and 50 million men have some form of hair loss. Typically we lose 50 to 100 hairs a day, with those hairs that are lost being replaced with new hairs. When we lose more than 50-100 hairs per day and the hair is slow to replace, noticeable thinning or balding occurs.
There are many underlying causes of hair loss in men and in women. Sometimes hair loss is genetic, and other times are can be due to an underlying condition, such as a thyroid disorder. Other factors such as stress, vitamin deficiency, childbirth traction, hormone changes and general health can affect the hair.
At The Savin Center we understand how frustrating hair loss can be for both women and men. Often clients come to us and have tried many over the counter “solutions” with no visible improvement. We take a deeper look into the hair loss and thoroughly examine the hair and scalp, and do additional work if presented. Depending on the findings, we customize a treatment plan. There are prescription medications that can slow and prevent further hair loss and many times regrow hair.
